Wake Up Sprinting: Special Teams Takes the Field

Posted Aug 6, 2014

Here's everything you need to know about today's closed practice, Jo-Lonn Dunbar's new role, fantasy football and much more.

1. CLOSED PRACTICE TODAY

The last two practices of #RamsCamp have been spirited with plenty of contact as the team starts getting the itch to hit someone not in a Rams jersey. Yesterday’s practice was the final full-squad workout with contact before the first preseason game Friday against the Saints. Today’s practice is special teams only and closed to the public.

2. FAMILIAR FACES

Jo-Lonn Dunbar and Gregg Williams will both be taking on their former team in this Friday’s preseason matchup with the Saints. I caught up with Dunbar to hear if that provides extra motivation, and how he feels about getting reps at middle linebacker.

3. REID'S RETURN

It’s safe to say players are anxious to get on the field by the time the first preseason game rolls around. But Greg Reid may have more reason than any to be excited. I talked to the rookie corner about how it will feel to be back in a football game for the first time in more than 2 years.

4. MORE HELMET CAMS ON THE WAY

The helmet camera videos have been a huge hit, so we are keeping them coming. Who better to strap on a camera to see the world through their eyes than the speed demon Tavon Austin. Oh, and he has a little personality too I discovered when talking with him and Chris Long. Austin’s helmet camera video will be coming your way today, so stay tuned.

5. HOST YOUR DRAFT AT RAMS PARK

The Rams are calling all you fantasy football fanatics out there to come be a part of an exclusive new event at Rams Park. For just $100 per person, you and your leaguemates can host your draft in the same room Les Snead, Jeff Fisher and co. select theirs each spring. Plus, you get a football with your league name and each team name embossed on the side. Space is limited so register here to make sure this year’s draft is a memorable one.
