Three Young Rams Fans Compete at National Level

Throughout the season, youngsters from the bi-state area have been competing in NFL Punt, Pass and Kick competitions to make their way to the national stage. The Rams hosted a sectional tournament at the Russell Training Center where more than 70 kids from the area battled it out to qualify for the next round at the Edward Jones Dome prior to the Rams home game against the Arizona Cardinals.

After weeks of competing at local, sectional and team championships, three regional athletes have qualified for the final round of the season. Eryn Puett will be representing the Rams for the girls’ 8-9 age group, Nathan Cobb for the boys group of the same age and Alex Adams will compete in the boys’ 10-11 age group. Our Rams finalists will compete separately in their age divisions during the weekend of the AFC Divisional Playoff Game on January 14 in the Baltimore Ravens’ facility.

All participants launch two punts, two passes and two kicks, with scores based on distance and accuracy, measured in feet. The best score from each activity is tabulated to determine the athlete’s total. The top scorer in each age group is crowned the national champion. All 40 of the finalists will be recognized in a special on-field award presentation, which will air after the third quarter of the AFC Divisional Playoff Game, airing January 15 on CBS.

This year marks the 50^th anniversary of the NFL Punt, Pass and Kick program, in conjunction with NFL Youth Football, which provides ways for children to play, watch and experience the game of football. NFL Punt, Pass and Kick is the nation’s largest grassroots sports skills competition. NFL stars, including Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterbacks Troy Aikman and Dan Marino competed in the program as youngsters.

“The NFL Punt, Pass and Kick program gives girls and boys around the country a way to stay healthy and active and to learn the basic skills of football,” said NFL Senior Vice President of Events Frank Supovitz. “We are pleased to see so many of our young fans learning about football through this program.”

All participants and their guests are provided airfare, hotel accommodations and tickets to the ACF Divisional Playoff Game. Rams participants also received official Rams gear, autographed items and other merchandise.
