St. Louis Rams Staff Celebrates Dr. Seuss’s Birthday with 1,000 SLPS Students

Posted Mar 20, 2012

Students were decked in iconic red and white striped hats, the St. Louis Rams staff came armed with copies of three of Dr. Seuss’s most popular stories and Rampage was on hand to kick the energy up a notch. As part of Read Across America day, the Rams staff members were deployed to 50 classrooms in the St. Louis area to help pre-k students celebrate the birthday of one of the most well-known authors in American history.

The event was part of the St. Louis Rams Staff Days of Service program where once a month the front office staff takes time away from the work day to get involved in the community. The Rams worked with local nonprofit Ready Readers to select schools within the St. Louis Public Schools (SLPS) system that would welcome volunteer readers for the special day. The Ready Readers program exists to inspire preschool age children from low-income communities to become readers. To encourage continued reading, St. Louis Rams readers left a copy of One Fish Two Fish, Fox in Socks and Green Eggs and Ham with each classroom they visited.
