Winning the PLAY 60 Challenge was a great accomplishment for the students and staff of Ladue Middle School. Being named one of three Character Fitness Model Schools was another noteworthy success. So last Monday, the St. Louis Rams provided the cherry on top by honoring Ladue’s achievements with an assembly at the school.
On hand to assist with the celebration was Rams tackle
Once Saffold had relayed his message, it was time to play. With the help of his new friends at Ladue, the Rams’ tackle hosted a game-show-style program that allowed the kids to participate in a variety of different activities aimed at promoting health and fitness. The show featured activities such as a banana eating contest, a push up competition, a wheel barrow race, a football toss and concluded with a few rounds of trivia featuring health and fitness questions.
When the assembly came to a close, Saffold and the Rams left some parting gifts with the students and staff of Ladue. First came the presentation of two banners, one in honor of winning the PLAY 60 Challenge and the other honoring Ladue as a Character Fitness Model School. For a final gift, the school received a new Xbox Kinect, complete with a collection of fitness games and programs. The game system served not only as a reward for the hard work of Ladue, but also encouragement to continue their efforts.
