Posted Jul 24, 2014

St. Louis Rams safety Rodney McLeod hosted his first inaugural youth football camp in his hometown of Hyattsvile, Maryland last week.

On Saturday, June 28, Rams starting safety Rodney McLeod kicked off the "Inaugural Rodney McLeod Football Camp" at his alma mater DeMatha High School in Hyattsville, Maryland. McLeod, along with certified USA Fundamentals Football Coaches and other current NFL players, hosted 150 youth for a full day of insightful drills and skills. The youth, ranging from ages 9-14, were divided into three groups and were provided the opportunity to work with McLeod to help better their development.

The camp focused not only on on-field skill enhancement o but also on the boys’ off-field development. The lunch portion of the camp, presented by Three Brothers Subs, also served as a mentorship experience for the boys thanks to the uplifting speeches from panelists Dr. Kirt Tyson (Balanced Health Medical Center), Life Coach Kimatni Rawlings (Fit Fathers), McLeod’s agent, Tony Paige (Perennial Sports and Entertainment), actor Jermaine Crawford (HBO’s The Wire), Rev. Tony Lee (Community of Hope AME Church), and McLeod himself.

Following lunch, campers returned to the field for the highly anticipated flag football tournament,  before receiving final remarks from McLeod and the coaches. At their departure, each young man received a swag bag that included sponsorship items from Clif Bar, DTLR, Popchips, Eye Black and others.
