While the release of the full NFL schedule won’t come until later this week, the league did give a small glimpse into the 20 total games teams will play Thursday afternoon as it released the preseason opponents for each team.
For the Rams, their schedule features a pair of home games against two of the league's premium franchises in Baltimore and Green Bay. They will also be making a national television appearance in the preseason for the first time since an Aug. 18, 2007 game against San Diego when they travel to Denver on Saturday, Aug. 24.
In addition, the Rams will open the preseason slate with a trip to Cleveland in week one followed by a home game against Green Bay and the aforementioned venture to play the Broncos.
The Rams wrap up the exhibition schedule with a home game against Baltimore in the preseason’s final week.
The trip to Denver will be the Rams’ first since the regular season in 2010. That was also the last time the teams met as the Rams came away with a 36-33 victory. It will be broadcast on CBS.
The Rams and Browns last met in Cleveland during the 2011 regular season, a game the Rams won late on a missed field goal by Browns kicker Phil Dawson. The two teams also played in Cleveland during the preseason in 2010 with the Rams winning 19-17.
Green Bay visited St. Louis just last season for a regular season game in which the Packers emerged with a 30-20 win on Oct. 21.The teams have met just three times in preseason play but haven't met since the Rams played in Wisconsin in 1994.
In what has become something of a yearly preseason meeting, the Rams and Ravens will once again square off to close the preseason. The teams met last year in the final preseason game with the Rams claiming a 31-17 win as they headed into the regular season opener in Detroit.
Including the regular season, Baltimore and the Rams have met at the Edward Jones Dome in each of the past three years and four of the past five.
Conspicuously absent from the preseason slate is the annual Governor’s Cup game against Kansas City. The Rams and Chiefs had met in the preseason 14 times since the Rams moved to St. Louis in 1995 and had played in 10 of the past 11 preseasons including last year’s matchup in week 2.
But a scheduling conflict with the Royals prevented the two sides from squaring off this season.
Each of the Rams' other three preseason games will be broadcast locally and regionally on the Rams Broadcast Network.
The NFL is expected to announce the full regular season schedule including specific dates and times for the three other preseason games later this month.
