The St. Louis Rams Community Player of the Week is wide receiver Austin Pettis.

While the third year receiver has become an increasing presence in the St. Louis Rams passing game this season, he has also become an increasing presence in the St. Louis community. He established the Austin Pettis Foundation to broaden the life experiences of inner-city, underprivileged and disadvantaged youth by raising money for them to attend various sports camps. At these camps, the kids receive positive guidance and leadership that the organization hopes will put its beneficiaries on the right track to a bright future.

Recently, Austin hosted a Monday Night Football bowling event to benefit the Austin Pettis Foundation. The event included bowling, pizza, a silent auction, and a Monday Night Football viewing party with Austin and other Rams players. Fans had the chance to mingle with Austin and his teammates while raising money for the St. Louis community.

On October 26, the Austin Pettis Foundation will be hosting the 2nd Annual Halloween Hangout at Dave and Buster’s for 50 first to sixth grade kids who will receive free admission and a free lunch with Austin. They will also receive a gift card to play games with Pettis and other Rams players. The event will include a costume contest with prizes awarded to the best-dressed guests.

It is clear that Austin is committed to connecting with the St. Louis community, whether it be through his foundation or even making visits to local high schools. Austin recently attended Roosevelt High School’s Homecoming Pep Rally with teammates William Hayes and Gerald Rivers. There, he was able to interact with the St. Louis students and support the school’s rising athletes.

In the offseason, Austin didn’t take any time off from his community efforts. He took part in the American Heart Association Heart Walk where he acted as an Honorary Chair for the Washington University and Barnes-Jewish Heart & Vascular Center Team, played in the Challenge for Champions golf tournament to benefit the March of Dimes, and participated in Coach Fisher’s Celebrity Softball Game benefiting various charities.

“Austin has emerged as one of our most consistent players in the community,” said Molly Higgins, Rams vice president of corporate communications/civic affairs. “He has a great personality and we are always exceptionally proud to have him representing the team and engaging our fans.  This year, we are looking forward to him having a leadership role in our signature holiday effort when we host more than 3,000 children, who have been impacted by the justice system or are in the foster care system, at the Edward Jones Dome for a holiday party.”
