Day 4 - Ohana Day
Aloha!
I had two more amazing days here in Hawaii; it is hard to believe this week is almost over! Some of us had a few free hours yesterday, which we used to finally spend some time on the beach! All of the cheerleaders had different events all over the city throughout the day and evening. Some taught dances to a group of cheerleaders from Japan and I was able to participate in a welcome event and meet and greet for those ladies and NFL Japan. They were extremely excited to be in Hawaii and to meet other cheerleaders, as were we!
Today was a very early morning because we had to be at Aloha Stadium for Ohana Day. Ohana means "family" and this was an event that was open to the public. Both the AFC and the NFC teams held a scrimmage and there were different games that the fans could participate in. We were also able to finally perform the routines we have been practicing all week for a large crowd! It was great practice for us too! Fans come from all over the country for Pro Bowl week, to support their respective teams, and this is such an exciting time for the state of Hawaii. The fans, and the people of Hawaii have been so gracious and welcoming, which makes this experience even more exciting than it already is!
After Ohana Day, we had pre-game rehearsal with Hot Chelle Rae and the rest of the performers. We were all really excited to dance with the live music, complete with hundreds of other performers, moving stages and fireworks! The pre-game show will be nationally televised and is considered the big "kick off" to Super Bowl week.
Following our long day at Aloha Stadium, we all participated in an event called the Block Party. They block off the main street in Waikiki and set up booths and stages featuring different bands along the way. All of the Pro Bowl cheerleaders performed on several different stages and signed autographs throughout the evening. Thousands of people show up for this event so the atmosphere was incredible! It was a fantastic way to build excitement for the big game tomorrow!
Mahalo!
