After spending week 9 on a bye, the Rams return to action this week as they host the New Orleans Saints at the Edward Jones Dome on Sunday. Since 1995, the Rams are 9-5 in games following a bye week and have won two consecutive games following bye weeks.

The last meeting between the Rams and Saints came in Week 10 of 2007 after the Rams had a bye week in Week 9 of the season. The Rams, 0-8 at the time, defeated the Saints 37-29. In that game, QB Marc Bulger completed 81.8 percent of his passes for 302 yards and two touchdowns. RB Steven Jackson added a rushing touchdown and threw a touchdown pass, the first of his career, to TE Randy McMichael.

The Rams lead the all-time series with the Saints, 38-30 (38-29 in the regular season). The series dates to 1967 and the teams played twice a year during the regular season from 1970-2002. The Rams and Saints were division foes in the NFC West after the AFLNFL merger in 1970 until 2002 when conference re-alignment moved the Saints to the NFC South.

Last week, the Saints defeated the Carolina Panthers, 30-20, while the Rams enter this week’s game after a victory in their last game, a 17-10 victory over the Detroit Lions in Week 8. The Rams were led by Jackson’s season-high 166 total yards, including a season- high 149 yards rushing. Jackson provided the decisive score as he rushed 25 yards for a touchdown with 1:38 left.
