Go Green

INFORMATION:

The St. Louis Rams are greening our operations, from recycling and waste reduction to energy efficiency and the use of recycled materials. Since our participation in the NFL’s first carbon neutral game in 2005 against the Philadelphia Eagles, we have been committed to establishing and growing our Green Platform with the intention of identifying authentic opportunities to reduce our carbon footprint.

We currently facilitate and promote single-stream recycling during all Rams home games on our Concourse and Terrace levels, in all of our suites, in the Bud Light Party Zone and at additional key points of entry/exit. We secured branded receptacles, made from 100% post-consumer waste, for the collection of materials. In 2008, we began printing our game tickets on recycled paper stock.

Similar to our success at the Edward Jones Dome, we have implemented a recycling program at the Russell Training Center, home of the St. Louis Rams. We have encouraged our staff to recycle paper and plastic by offering personal receptacles for office/cubicle use.

In 2009, the Rams became the first team in the NFL to print our Media Guide on 100% post consumer waste paper. The Media Guide was printed with soy ink, made from environmentally friendly soy beans. The guide was certified with the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council), an independent, non-governmental, not-for-profit organization established to promote the responsible management of the world’s forests. The Media Guide was also reduced by more than 250 pages and additional information was placed on the Rams website.

In 2010, the Rams furthered our commitment to enhance our Green Platform in many different ways. The Rams completely eliminated our Media Guides this year, instead handing out flash drives to the media with all applicable information. We are committed to reducing our energy and waste throughout the season and are Pure Power Gold Certified through Ameren Missouri Pure Power. This means that we will help prevent the release of approximately 342,000 pounds of carbon dioxide from entering the atmosphere, which is equal to taking 30 cars off the road for a year.

The Rams will host our 2nd Annual Bud Light Green Game, presented by Monsanto, Meridian Waste, Laclede Gas and Landis + Gyr, on October 30, 2011 against the New Orleans Saints. As a part of this game, we will offset 100% of the electricity used at the Edward Jones Dome on this day with Missouri wind energy credits from Ameren Missouri Pure Power. We will also offset all fan travel to and from the Edward Jones Dome and the New Orleans Saints flight to and from St. Louis with Pure Power carbon offsets. We will highlight the importance of sustainability throughout the game through our pre-game Green Expo in the Bud Light Tailgate Party at Baer Park, presented by Monsanto, Meridian Waste, Laclede Gas and Landis + Gyr, and in-game features throughout the game.
