Cheerleaders Tour Blog 3: Dia Dia in the am, Orphanage

Text A A A | RSS | Print |

Hola Rams Fans!

We started our day as guests on the largest television network in Mexico, Televisa. The show was called Dia Dia, which would be our equivalent of the Today Show. We performed for a live television audience and spread the word about the NFL Mexico Flag Football Championships and our stay in Guadalajara.  We even taught a few of the host members part of our dance routine.

After leaving the TV studio, we headed to a local orphanage, Internado Beatriz Hernandez, which is home to approximately 300 youngsters, mostly young girls ranging in age from eight to fifteen.  As we entered the orphanage, we were greeted with beautiful smiling faces.  After our introductions, we performed two routines. The children loved the dances so much they asked for an encore, which of course we were happy to do.  After we performed, we autographed posters and got a chance to meet the children one-on-one.  Soon, we realized we would not be the only ones to dance. As a gift, the girls performed a routine using blue and gold poms, in addition to the traditional dance from Guadalajara, called “Jarave Tapatio.” As we sat back and enjoyed the performance, we were also provided another gift, a “welcome to Guadalajara” speech in English.

Next we headed to “Centro Sur Mall” where we were welcomed by 200 to 300 screaming NFL fans. We signed autographs and gave away prizes including t-shirts, hats, and Rams pins.  We truly felt like superstars because the energy in the room was amazing. The screaming fans and pictures did not stop for the entire hour we were there.

We then headed to a local Mitsubishi Motors where we performed our last show of the day. We were privileged to be able to give back to an NFL Mexico partner who is as passionate about the NFL as we are.

Buenos Noches Rams Fans, and check back tomorrow for more details of our amazing trip in Guadalajara.

Adios,

St. Louis Rams Cheerleaders

Emily, Megan W, Valerie, Michele, Lucy, Shannon, Kate and Ashley
