By Nick Wagoner The who was already known but the NFL announced the where and when of the 2009 NFL schedule on Tuesday night with the Rams opening their season on the road against division rival Seattle on Sept. 13. “This is a great day on the League’s calendar,” Coach Steve Spagnuolo said. “We’re excited about the 2009 schedule, and it is also exciting for our players and Rams fans everywhere.” In fact, the Rams will hit the road twice to open the season, following the opener against the Seahawks, they will travel east to face the Redskins in Washington D.C. for the second season in a row. The home opener doesn’t come until Sept. 27 when the Green Bay Packers come to town. The Rams head west again for week 4 with the annual trip to San Francisco to take on the 49ers. A home game against Adrian Peterson and the Minnesota Vikings follows that on Oct. 11. The Rams get their first AFC opponent on Oct. 18 as they travel to Jacksonville to face the Jaguars before returning home for another AFC South opponent in Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts the following week. On Nov. 1, the Rams travel to Detroit to face the Lions heading into the bye week at the exact mid-point of the season. When the team returns to action, it gets to do it in the comfort of the Edward Jones Dome with a three-game homestand to follow the bye week. The Rams return to action on Nov. 15 against New Orleans with games against Arizona and Seattle to follow the next two weeks. After a month or so without a road game, the Rams hit the road again for what figures to be a chilly battle at Soldier Field against the Bears on Dec. 6. St. Louis stays on the road the following week against Tennessee. On Dec. 20, Houston comes to town before yet another late-season trip to Arizona on Dec. 27. The Rams will wrap up the regular season at home against San Francisco on Jan. 3. All regular season games are slated to begin at noon save for the three west coast games and the Arizona home game, which are all set for late afternoon starts. Any game beginning in week 11 can change time because of NFL flex scheduling, however. As for the preseason, dates and times were also finalized. The Rams get their first action at New York to play the Jets on Aug. 14 at 6 p.m. Rams tickets are on sale now. For ticket information call 314-425-8830 or go to www.stlouisrams.com.
