(2 p.m. Update) Some Draft Tidbits - The NFL Draft is more than a month away but things are steaming toward that and there are plenty of things of interest in the coming weeks. - According to Wake Forest linebacker Aaron Curry, he will be visiting St. Louis on April 15. Curry is widely regarded as the best defensive player in the draft. Some say he’s the best player regardless of position. - Curry has already visited with Detroit, the team that holds the No. 1 pick. He’s also set up visits with Seattle and Cincinnati. - Thursday is a big day on the pro day circuit as Georgia and Virginia showcase their players for NFL scouts in attendance. - Rams general manager Billy Devaney is heading to Charlottesville to the Cavaliers’ pro day. No doubt, he’ll be taking a long look at offensive tackle Eugene Monroe. - The Rams will also have a representative in Athens to see the Bulldogs. Quarterback Matthew Stafford, not believed to be on the Rams’ radar, will showcase his skills for scouts. Some believe he needs to put on a show if he wants to be the Lions’ top overall pick. - Interesting to note, former Rams quarterbacks coach Terry Shea has spent the past month or so working with Stafford in Arizona. Tom Condon, Stafford’s agent, hired Shea to work with Stafford in preparation for his workout and the draft. - Shea was the quarterbacks coach in St. Louis last season and spent training camp and the first quarter of the year working for Scott Linehan. Linehan is now the offensive coordinator in Detroit. - There are plenty of rumors that the Lions are leaning toward taking an offensive tackle such as Baylor’s Jason Smith with the first pick. Should Stafford have a good showing, he could nudge his way into that spot. - Tomorrow is also the scheduled pro day for a few Missouri players including receiver Jeremy Maclin, tight end Chase Coffman and quarterback Chase Daniel. - Maclin, as you will recall was injured in route running drills at the scouting combine in February. He sat out the March 5 pro day because of hip pain from that injury but is expected to run Thursday. - Coffman’s status is a little more iffy, though. League sources say that Coffman isn’t recovering from the surgery he had for a Jones Fracture in his foot as well as had been expected so it remains to be seen whether he will run and participate at full strength on Thursday. ---
