Sebastian Sejean Shares Expertise with Local French Class Rams safety, Sebastian Sejean, isn’t your typical NFL player. In fact, a native of Paris, France, he is the only French player in the NFL. Sejean, who played at the University of Laval and was a member of the French Senior National Team, is part of the NFL’s International Practice Squad Program. The initiative, which entered its fifth year in 2008, features sixteen international players joining NFL practice squads for the entire season to promote the development of players worldwide. Sejean, who was allocated to the Rams in June, joins players from the United Kingdom, Sweden, Mexico, Germany, Russia and Japan on teams from the NFC West, NFC North, AFC West and AFC North. While immersing himself in all things American football, he has also become involved in the team’s community outreach initiatives and recently put his native language to good use with a visit to Francis Howell High School’s French class. Sejean fielded many questions from the eager students, responding in both French and English to help the students understand every detail of his answer. Students were eager to learn about Sejean’s daunting transition from life in one of the world’s most famous cities to life as an NFL player in St. Louis. Sejean discussed the cultural differences as well as his continued quest to improve on his English, while learning how to play a new position with some of the world’s most elite football players. The Frenchman even offered an expert deScription of the Eiffel Tower. The students thanked their new friend, wished him luck on a great experience in St. Louis and bid him “adieu.” ---
