On Saturday, Coach Linehan made a unique appearance at the USA
Football Coaching clinic held at Russell Training Center. Over 100 bi-state
coaches represented more than 4,500 youth football players. This was a great
opportunity for the coaches to learn the intricacies of youth football and learn
from curriculum which incorporates in-classroom coaching theory as well as
on-field coaching demonstrations.
Coach Linehan, who has three boys who have participated in youth
football, was thankful that these coaches have taken time out of their busy
lives and hectic schedules to teach and mentor these young football players.
Linehan referred to the coaches as teachers who play a vital role in shaping
their player’s lives. He talked about the importance of respect and discipline
that these children will learn through their coaches while involved in the
program.
Linehan also mentioned how the Rams are trying to improve youth
programs around the area. The Rams community outreach staff works with the NFL
through a league-wide grant program to improve the quality of football fields
for local youth. The organization’s involvement also gives youth football
programs more opportunities to meet mentors such as Rams players and coaches.
Linehan, who recognizes the importance of giving back to the community, is a
strong advocate for programs that facilitate growth and development in young
children.
USA Football is the national governing body of America's
favorite sport on youth and amateur levels. An independent non-profit based near
Washington, D.C., USA Football, which hosts more than 100 training events
annually, offers education programs for coaches and game officials as well as
skill development for young players and resources for youth league
administrators.
