Rams tight end Randy McMichael was honored earlier this month by the Annie Malone Child and Family Service Center for his work with the organization over the past year.

Randy was given the Make A Difference Award, which goes out to an outstanding person associated with Annie Malone.

"It was awesome," Randy said. "I didn't know how big Annie Malone really was, until I started continually working with them and their organization. It was unbelievable, because I had never really gotten an award before, so it was extra special knowing that the hard work that I put in with those kids paid off."

Randy received the award at the organization's annual May Day Soiree earlier this month. Randy and his wife Cawanna make regular visits to Annie Malone and have formed special bonds with the Annie Malone children.

"Those kids, all they need is someone to show them that they care about them," Randy said. "Every time we go out there, you see the smiles on their faces and the attentiveness that they have when you speak. It's fun, I can't wait to get involved again this year."

Randy and Cawanna have always become involved in the communities where they live. Their community support continues in Georgia, where they attended college, and Florida where Randy formerly played for the Dolphins.

Visits to Annie Malone are just part of what Randy and Cawanna have done through the Randy McMichael Foundation, which was formed in 2006 with the goal of enhancing the quality of life for young people.

The Randy McMichael Foundation is looking to grow this summer with more opportunities for youth football camps not only in St. Louis, but in Florida and Georgia as well.

"We're going to expand a little bit, more camps here in St. Louis, more in Georgia, more in Florida," Randy said. "It's going to be a busy summer for me, but it's going to be a fun summer."
