![]() Atogwe Lends Star Power to Herbert Hoover
Monday, April 21, 2008 Text Size Text Size By Evan Ardoin stlouisrams.com While safety Oshiomogho “OJ” Atogwe has been an NFL player for just three seasons, his star power continues to rise both on and off the field. In the midst of his intense offseason regimen, the veteran defensive back took some of his personal time to participate in Herbert Hoover’s 41st annual awards ceremony at the famed boys and girls club. Atogwe had the opportunity to participate in the actual awards ceremony where nearly every child who regularly attends the club was recognized in one way or another. Whether it was individual athletic performance or a group commitment to community projects, the kids from Herbert Hoover were celebrated on this day. One particularly special honor went to youth football coach Wesley Cooper, better known as“Coach Coop.” Atogwe shared a moment on stage with the coach as he presented him with the “Wind Beneath My Wings” award, which is given annually to the club’s most outstanding youth coach. Since 1967,
Herbert Hoover Boys & Girls Club
(HHBGC) has been providing a safe place for children to learn and grow. Their mission is to inspire and enable
youth ages 6 to 18 to realize their full potential as productive, responsible
and caring citizens. The Club is a source of hope and opportunity for more than
3,500 youth.
