-Has been a staple of the Rams coaching staff, coaching the Rams
wide receivers since 2001.
-Played wide receiver in the NFL for 16
seasons, 11 seasons with the Los Angeles Rams.
-A second-round draft choice by the Rams in 1983, played in
three Pro Bowls and set Rams franchise records for receptions and receiving
yards. (Currently third in receptions (593), second in receiving yards (9,761)
and fourth in receiving touchdowns (48)).
-Currently, he is seventh in the NFL in career receiving yards
(13,777) and tied seventeenth in receptions with Keyshawn Johnson (814).
-Began coaching career at Southern California Christian High
School in Orange, California (1999).
-Spent a year in the college ranks as a student assistant at his
alma mater, Fresno State, before joining the Rams as wide receivers coach
(2000).
-Holds Fresno State record for touchdowns with 25 and his 24.4
yards-per-catch average in 1982 remains and NCAA record (minimum 50 receptions).
-Qualified for the Olympic Trials in the triple jump while with
the Rams in 1992 with a best jump of 54 feet, one inch.
-A native of Fresno, California, he and his wife Lillian have
three daughters, Christiana, Alexandria and Adriana. He also has a son, Henry
Austin Jr., and a daughter, Whitney.
