Rams Add Becht, Goldberg
Thursday, March 6, 2008

By Nick Wagoner
Senior Writer

The Rams made a pair of minor moves late Thursday afternoon, agreeing to terms with tight end Anthony Becht and re-signing offensive lineman Adam Goldberg.

Becht comes to the Rams from Tampa Bay where he he played in 48 games with 34 starts in three seasons. He came into the league in 2000 as a first round choice of the New York Jets. He played there until 2003, playing in 78 games.

Becht is known for his blocking prowess and will likely fill the role held last season by veteran Aaron Walker. Becht played his college ball at West Virginia and is friends with quarterback Marc Bulger.

The Rams traded for Goldberg before the 2006 season and he played in 15 games with two starts that season. Goldberg played in four games to open the 2007 season before suffering a knee injury that ended his season. Goldberg's versatility allows him to play any of the line positions and he will likely continue that role in 2008.

Also, the Rams added another leg for training camp in Sean Douglas, a punter from the University of Washington who spent part of training camp in 2007 with Tampa Bay.
