The Rams and National City are teaming up to ask fans to “Bring
a Buck” to the October 7 game versus the Arizona Cardinals. All money collected
will be given to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
Donation kiosks and volunteers will be stationed at each gate at
the Edward Jones Dome. If every fan can “Bring a Buck” to help fight breast
cancer, Rams fans will make a donation of more than $66,000 to the National
Breast Cancer Foundation.
In addition to the fundraising drive, a special ceremony will
take place at halftime during which 100 breast-cancer survivors will take the
field to create a human pink ribbon. The survivors, chosen from more than 160
nominations, represent the strength and courage of all breast cancer survivors.
The events are part of National City’s ongoing “Real Men Wear
Pink” campaign, promoting breast cancer awareness and featuring Rams’ wide
receiver Isaac Bruce as spokesperson.
“There are two million breast cancer survivors in America—enough
to fill the Edwards Jones Dome thirty times over,” said Bruce. “The survivors
we’re honoring are a small handful of those who command our respect and
admiration.”
National City is holding a series of events throughout the month
to help shed light on the fight against breast cancer. Other local activities to
support breast cancer awareness and research include an intimate concert for
breast cancer survivors with Erin Bode on October 18, and donations to St.
Anthony’s Medical Center and St. Luke’s Hospital to support their efforts to
assist women in receiving breast cancer-related care.
National City has long championed breast cancer awareness and
prevention initiatives through local events and sponsorships as well as products
created to support the cause. That includes its special Diamond Edition debit
and credit card products, through which a portion of each transaction goes to
the National Breast Cancer Foundation. Since launching the Diamond Edition
program, National City and its customers have raised more than $2 million in
donations to support breast cancer prevention and education.
“Breast cancer strikes nearly 200,000 American women each year.
It’s a disease that touches the lives of each and every one of us, including
those of us within the National City family of employees and customers,” said
Shaun Hayes, CEO of National City in Missouri. “We are proud to support local
programs and efforts that generate awareness, bolster prevention and fund
research, in hopes of making a difference in the fight against this disease. We
believe that our contributions, along with those of our customers and neighbors,
will help bring us all one step closer to eradicating this devastating
disease.”
In addition to Diamond Edition, customers enrolled in points
from National City, the company’s banking rewards program, have the opportunity
to redeem points for donations to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, which
provides mammograms, education kits, breast cancer screenings and support
materials to women in need. Beginning Oct. 1, customers can donate points by
logging on to www.nationalcity.com/donatepoints.
