Rams linebacker Will Witherspoon joined Governor Matt Blunt at
the Cabanne House in Forest Park on Tuesday, September 25 to celebrate the 25th
Anniversary of Dollar-Help. Dollar-Help was established in 1982 to help
low-income families in Eastern Missouri pay their winter heating
bills.
Witherspoon was involved with Dollar-Help last year when he
hosted a hot chocolate stand at Tillman Elementary in Kirkwood on Dec. 5, 2006.
Dollar-Help was awarded a 2007 Summit Creative Award for its Warmthgiving
Weekend campaign, which called for children across the St. Louis area to host
their own hot chocolate stands in order to raise money and awareness of
Dollar-Help.
“Dollar-Help is helping to make sure that fewer people shiver in
their homes [during winter] time,” Witherspoon said. “Warmthgiving Weekend is a
wonderful way for young people in our community to help share the warmth
[during] winter.”
Since 1982, Dollar-Help has raised and distributed more than
$14.5 million to help pay heating bills of all types in more than 48,644
households.
