OVERVIEW

Klopfenstein has been a productive and versatile tight end at Colorado with many of the tools to succeed in the NFL. He no doubt has the height, hands and body control to catch every pass thrown his way and can adjust to make tough catches consistently. He is really is smooth reaching back and catching the pass behind him. He is an upright runner and lacks any real explosiveness -- he's more of a gather-to-full-speed runner and does not play like a 4.6 tight end. Once he gets to full speed, he has good enough playing speed to get down the seam. When he blocks aggressively, he does a good job of making contact with the defender, keeps his feet churning and rides his man out of the play.He has the tools to make plays as a receiver from a variety of alignments. He can be a valuable offensive player who contributes lining up as an in-line tight end, move H-back and fullback.

Klopfenstein is a tough football player who consistently has shown the willingness to go across the middle, makes the tough catch, takes the hard hit and holds onto the ball. He is a smart football player, which is what has allowed him to be such a versatile player at Colorado. He is a smooth athlete who consistently runs good routes from all the different places he lines up. He does a very good of using his hands and body to shield the defender and gets a half-step of separation. He does a surprisingly good job of driving the defensive line down the line of scrimmage on down/side blocks. He gets through to the second level quickly and can block the linebacker well when he maintains focus and concentration. 

ATHLETIC ABILITY

Klopfenstein's has good foot quickness accelerating to full speed once he is off ball. Once he gets to full speed, he has the playing speed to get down the seam. He is a smooth and efficienct route runner who uses hands and body well to get half a step of separation in routes. Klopfenstein has surprising body control, coordination and hands to adjust and make tough catches seem routine. He's very good at reaching back and catching the pass thrown behind him.

COMPETITIVENESS

Klopfenstein is a tough tight end that has consistently shown toughness catching passes in traffic, takes the hard hit and holds onto the ball. He has been the go-to receiver at Colorado throughout his career making key catches all the time and has done a very good job of cranking up his intensity as a blocker when the play matters most. An added bonus when it comes to Klopfenstein's production is his versatility -- he lines up as an in-line tight end, fullback and H-back. As a receiver, he consistently runs good routes and uses his height and hands to make tough catches consistently. He is no doubt a team player when you see his toughness as a receiver and his willingness to line up all over the place.
