Kickers/Punters 1. Jonathan Scifres, Missouri State – The local product worked as both a kicker and punter in college, but projects as a kicker with the ability to make field goals and handle kickoff chores. Comes from great bloodlines as his brother is one of the league’s top punters. Should hear his name called in the late rounds. 2. Josh Huston, Ohio State – Great at kickoffs and somewhat inconsistent on field goals. Not the kicker that Mike Nugent was, but still a solid option. Again, probably a late round look at best for Huston. 3. Ryan Plackemeier, Wake Forest – Plackemeier can handle kicking or punting chores, but will likely be a punter in the NFL. A dangerous weapon as a punter with good hang time and distance. Might get a call late in the draft. 4. John Torp, Colorado – Torp had an excellent college careers as the Buffaloes’ punter, but it’s always hard to tell if the kicking done in Colorado has more to do with talent or the altitude. As an added bonus, Torp is left footed. He could be the first punter selected as high as round five. 5. Steve Weatherford, Illinois – After starting all four years, Weatherford has plenty of experience kicking the ball. Did a little bit of everything for the Illini, but will be a punter in the NFL. Might not get drafted, but will get a shot somewhere. ---
