Offensive Tackle 1. D’Brickashaw Ferguson, Virginia – This is what a sure thing looks like. One of the most talented tackles to enter the draft since the likes of Orlando Pace and Walter Jones. Ferguson isn’t the biggest tackle in the world, but is technically sound and has an amazing understanding of the game. Will almost certainly be a top five selection, perhaps as high as No. 2. 2. Winston Justice, USC – Justice has dealt with character questions, but after a brilliant pro day workout has silenced most of his critics. Will be the second tackle taken and could slide into the top 10. 3. Eric Winston, Miami – A supreme athlete with good speed and quickness for a tackle. Was once a tight end and he understands blocking in space. A bit on the smallish side and has had injury issues. Might make it into the first round, but certainly a second round talent. 4. Marcus McNeill, Auburn – As physically imposing as any of the tackles at almost 6’8 and 332 pounds. A great athlete, but has had trouble with motivation issues and faster ends. Like Winston, could go in the late first round and won’t make it much past the early part of the second round. 5. Jonathan Scott, Texas – Another physical presence with an impressive resume. Helped clear the path for Vince Young on many of his long runs. Experienced and talented, Scott will likely be a second round type of talent. Sleeper: Guy Whimper, East Carolina – Whimper went largely unnoticed at East Carolina, but has plenty of potential. Whimper is raw and hasn’t spent a whole lot of time at tackle after starting his career on defense. A nice, long-term project that could pay off. ---
