Fullback Madison Hedgecock signed a three-year contract with St. Louis on
Thursday. Hedgecock became the second rookie Ram to ink a deal with the team,
following safety Jerome Carter, who signed with the team before the rookie
mini-camp in April.
The Rams drafted Hedgecock in the seventh round
of April's draft, No. 251 overall. Hedgecock spent time on defense and special
teams at North Carolina, but his future in the league rests with his ability to
play fullback and contribute on special teams.
Hedgecock should get
his opportunity to compete with incumbent Joey Goodspeed for what likely will be
one roster spot at the position. Hedgecock made a name for himself with the Tar
Heels because of his ability to lead block and his ferocious approach to the
game.
The signing of Hedgecock leaves nine rookies unsigned with
about two weeks left before training camp begins on July 28.
