ON THINKING HE WOULD BE PLAYING IN THE NFL AS A TE:
“No, I did not to be
honest with you.”
ON SWITCH TO TE:
“I had been wanting to play tight end for the last couple
of years. Growing up I always played offense and I knew that offense was a
better fit for me. With my size, I knew that tight end would be the best
fit, and plus I would get a chance to catch the ball again. So after
asking to play it for a couple of years, coach finally allowed me to play it my
fifth year.”
ON WHAT HE NEEDS TO WORK ON TO BE A WELL-ROUNDED TE:
“Basically everything
right now. My experience at the position is lacking because I only played
it in college for a year. There is no one point in my game that doesn’t
need some work.”
ON CHANGING FROM DEFENSE TO OFFENSE:
“I grew very comfortable with it
(playing defense). I liked it and enjoyed it. I think defense helped
me be a lot more physical player. Playing defense I enjoyed it, but I much
rather play offense. I just loved the creatvitiy of offense much more than
defense.”
ON BEING DRAFTED CLOSE TO HOME:
“I went to college close to home and
hopefully play a long time close to home. It’s been a blessing.”
ON PLAYING SPECIAL TEAMS:
“Since I played behind a pretty good guy on
defense at linebacker, I spent most of my time playing special teams. I
grew very accustom to playing kickoff, kickoff return, punt, punt return.
It is
something everybody needs to do. You need to have good guys on
those teams so that you can make plays. I am all about doing special
teams.”
