“For Richie sitting out a year, and having some of the problems he had and of course his injury probably put his value down in the draft. When you put the tape on and look at him, we can be patient with him now because of our depth at the offensive line, with Rex Tucker and of course our first round pick. This is a guy that is not a center, he is either a tackle or a guard. I am very excited about him and the athleticism and the physical mentality, the toughness that he brings to the offensive line. He is extremely strong, very quick, a 4.9 40(yard dash) type of guy. Very bright, the athleticism and tenacity that he brings to the offensive line, I am very excited about it. This is somebody, that even before he injured his knee, we had kind of targeted as a guy that we would like to have. He will have to have some surgery, and it will take three to four months before he can actually get on the field. I believe that he is going to be more than worthwhile. He is extremely worth the investment.” ON INCOGNITO HAVING FIRST ROUND TALENT: “There is no question, I don’t think anybody in the league will argue that. No question there.” ON OTHER TEAM’S DRAFT SELECTION: “I think what happens on the first day is that everyone is trying to select somebody for an immediate need. We have met some needs here with two defensive backs and a right tackle. I feel good about where we are with the rest of the roster. In other years there was no way we could go into this thing like this and make this type of selection. We feel very good about the depth at this point. The first three picks really eased our interpretation about some of those two positions, particularly safety, corner and tackle. Now we can do this, we have an awfully lot of veteran offensive linemen, we can bring him along. I think in time this will be one terrific offensive line.” ON INGOGNITO’S HISTORY: “We brought him in and spent a great deal of time with him, and we have been able to work through our concerns and solve them. Otherwise, we would have not have drafted him.” ON INGOGNITO’S MEDICAL HISTORY: “They did the MRI, and they did the exam, and they know exactly what needs to be done with surgery. We have talked to the agent, and there is a timetable for all of that to happen. Recovery like I said, is three to four months before he can hit the field, and however long it takes for him to get back and develop, that is the way it is.” DR. MARTZ ON THE KNEE INJURY: “It is a thing-a-ma-jiggy on the knee cap where the whatcha-ma-call-it dislocated or tore from the thing- a-ma-jiggy.” ---
