On being drafted by the Rams: “This offense is explosive. I am going to a team that is already established and has been in the playoffs and the Super Bowl the last couple of years. I am more than happy to be a part of this organization.” On playing with Marshall Faulk: “I am overwhelmed. I wanted to go to a situation where I can go to a veteran and learn from him and learn some of the intangible things that some coaches can’t teach you. For me to go and play behind Marshall (Faulk) is going to be great for me and my career in the latter part of my years.” On playing in a dome oppose to playing outdoors in college: “It’s an ideal situation because I don’t have to worry about the weather and I am on the turf, where I played on for three years in Oregon, so I will be able to deal with that pretty easily. On saying that his running style is like “gumbo”: “It means that I can catch, block and run, the three things that you need to be able to do in the National Football League, being able to spread the defense out. That is what I meant that my game is “gumbo.” I bring a lot of stuff to the table. On pressure to live up to expectations: “No one is going to have more expectations or give more pressure on myself than I am going to give myself. I am coming into a situation with a chip on my shoulder. Like I said earlier, we didn’t intend to be here this long, but going to the St. Louis Rams is not a bad thing at all.” On who he thought was going to pick him: “I started off with Detroit. I thought they were going to take me. Then they passed on me and I thought for sure that I was going to Denver or Dallas, then those two passed on me. At that point, when Dallas passed on me, I had no clue.” On receiving ability: “This past year I caught 44 balls and the Rams are known for being able to spread the defense out, have a dynamic passing game, along with a great running game with Marshall, so when they saw that I brought that to the table, I think that excited them. When I was there, they thought that would be a great fit.” On lowering shoulder and giving the big hit: “I think that every team on offense wants to have someone who can move the chains in a tight situation. You want to have someone that when you do have to play in bad weather, you want to have someone who can move the chains when you can’t throw the ball all the time.” On his speed: “I am able to get outside and outrun some angles. Speed is also another part of my game. You have to be able to change to another gear when you go into the secondary, because that is where the speedy guys are. I think that I can do a lot.” On what Marshall Faulk has told him: “He said
that he loves the organization and that it is an offense that he is comfortable
with and that he loves to be a part of.”
