After six weeks of football, the Admirals have dug themselves into a hole and are fighting hard to get their season back under control. This past week, the Admirals hosted Rhein Fire and lost a nail biter 34-27. It started out as a shootout and then came down to the wire. What a frustrating loss! Those are really hard to take and now we are in a tough position. With only four games left, our record stands at 2-4 and we need every win from this point on. One thing that is great about this team is how positive everyone is. Even though we are not in the position we would like to be in, everyone’s spirits are up. There are many people who would give up at this point or get caught up in the frustration of so many close losses. But I’ve noticed that the players and the coaches here stay positive and pay attention to the job at hand, which is winning each week. I think that says a lot about the character of this football team. On my day off this week, a group of fans planned a wonderful trip for us. A handful of players and staff members toured historical Dutch villages and a nearby fishing village. It was so great to get a feel for Dutch history. I learned about how cheese is made, toured a working windmill and saw a demonstration of how they make those great wooden shoes. We even took a picture in traditional Dutch clothing. That will be a treasured keepsake for sure. It was a very relaxing and enjoyable day and it showed me how dedicated the fans are here. Although the numbers will probably never compare to NFL fans, their dedication and devotion cannot be matched. This week, we travel to Frankfurt to meet up again with the Galaxy, who we beat at home in Week 4. It will definitely be a tough game, but I’m hoping that we will perform the way we are capable of and come out with a win. Judging by the attitude around here, everyone knows what must be accomplished and I just hope we can prove it on the football field. ---
