Matt House joined the Rams as defensive quality control coach. House spent last season, his first in the NFL, with the Carolina Panthers as special teams assistant/assistant strength and conditioning coach.
House came to the Panthers after two seasons with the University of Buffalo (2006-07). House served as defensive backs coach and recruiting coordinator for head coach Turner Gill’s Mid-American Conference East Division Co-Champions. In House’s first season with Buffalo, Kendric Hawkins was named to The Sporting News Freshman All-American team. In 2007, House helped freshman safety Davonte Shannon earn first-team All-Conference honors and second-team freshman All-America honors.
House was defensive line coach at Gardner-Webb College in Boiling Springs, N.C., in 2005. House helped develop defensive end Brian Johnston who was drafted in the seventh round of the 2008 NFL Draft by the Kansas City Chiefs.
House served two seasons (2003-04) at the University of North Carolina, coaching as a defensive assistant with defensive backs. In 2004, the Tar Heels made an appearance in the Continental Tire Bowl.
House began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at his alma mater, Michigan State, in 2001. House worked with defensive backs and special teams and was part of a Spartans staff that helped lead the team to an appearance in the Silicon Valley Bowl in 2002.
A native of Harrison, Mich., House played football in high school. Matt and his wife, Jessi, have two sons, Jackson and Jacob.
