Coach of the Week
Each week during the high school football season, the Rams along with STLtoday Prep Sports, select one high school head coach as the Coach of the Week.  The selected coaches receive a certificate signed by Coach Martz and NFL Commissioner Paul Tagliabue, as well as a donation to their teams’ football program from the Rams Foundation and NFL Charities.  In addition, the coach receives a St. Louis Rams “Coach of the Week” cap and his players and assistant coaches receive Rams football t-shirts.  Each of the ten Coach of the Week winners are recognized at a Rams home game.  At season’s end, one coach is selected as High School Coach of the Year when the ten winners attend one of Coach Martz’s weekly news conferences at Rams Park.  The Coach of the Year receives an additional donation to his school’s football program.

NFL Coaching Academy
Local youth football coaches spend a weekend at Rams Park to learn football skills, strategy, life skills and player development as  part of the NFL Coaching Academy.  The two-day coaching clinic is hosted by the Rams, the Greater St. Louis chapter of the National Football Foundation and the St. Louis Sports Commission.

United Way
In celebration of the long standing relationship between the NFL and the United Way, the Rams participate in “Hometown Huddle” an annual event that focuses on player involvement at selected agencies.  Additionally, the Rams designate a game each year for supporters of the United Way.  This year the game is August 22 vs. the San Diego Chargers.

Chunky Linemen
The Rams donated more than 4,300 cans of Campbell Soup to the St. Louis area Food Bank this year as part of Campbell’s Chunky/NFL Tackling Hunger 2001 program.  Linemen throughout the NFL are “weighed-in” on a giant soupspoon scale during NFL training camps.  Campbell donates 10 times each participating player’s weight in Chunky Soup to a local food bank.  Since 1997, Campbell and the NFL have been working together to tackle hunger, resulting in more than 20 million pounds of food being donated to food banks across the country. Campbell challenges fans to tackle hunger, too.  Starting the first week of the NFL season, fans can visit the Campbell’s Chunky Soup web site,
www.chunky.com, and click on their favorite NFL team logo.  For each team “click” one can of Campbell’s soup is donated to a community food bank in that team’s name. Last year, more than 3 million cans of soup were donated as a result of the voting by NFL fans.

Gatorade Junior Training Camp
Over 200 youth from the St. Louis area had the opportunity to get a taste of what it takes to “train like a pro” at Gatorade Junior Training Camp at Rams Park.  Hosted by the St. Louis Rams, the two-hour camp puts kids through drills and pep talks to demonstrate there is much more to playing football than just having the right moves. The program emphasizes friendly competition over winning and teaches kids about the important skills they can learn from playing sports including responsibility, teamwork and sportsmanship.  The camp also highlights basic health and fitness training for active youth and the importance of the proper “fuels” to keep them playing stronger and longer so they have more fun.

Punt, Pass & Kick
The St. Louis Jaycees and the St. Louis Rams co-sponsored the Punt, Pass and Kick competition this year in St. Louis.  Punt, Pass and Kick is an annual nationwide NFL-sponsored youth program in which contestants compete against each other in the football skills of punting, passing and kicking.  Rams kicker Jeff Wilkins was on hand to give the participants pointers on different football techniques. Finalists of the Punt, Pass and Kick competition have the opportunity to compete during half time of a Rams home game.
