Well-built athlete with the acceleration and change of direction agility to quickly close on the ball…Has the strength needed to take on the lead blocker and stack the action at the point of attack…Stays low in his pads to clog the rush lanes…Can run through traffic and does a nice job with his hands to defeat low blocks…Has the vision and instincts to flow to the play and the short area quickness to cover most tight ends in their routes…Times his charge off the edge properly as a pass rusher, getting a clean shot through the line of scrimmage…Can break down and tackle well when working in the box…Has the pursuit speed to make plays from the back side…His speed, toughness and closing burst could be more effective operating as a rush end-linebacker in a 3-4 defensive alignment.

CAREER NOTES

One of two former walk-ons to earn scholarships and win starting positions in the last four years…A member of the 2000 Successful Farming All-American team, he collected 183 tackles (87 solos) with six sacks for minus 44 yards, 17 stops for losses of 62 yards, ten quarterback pressures, eleven pass deflections, an interception, two interceptions caused, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery while starting 28 of 48 games.

2002 SEASON

All-Big Twelve Conference honorable mention by the league’s coaches…Made the Butkus Award Watch List…Played in thirteen games, starting ten contests at strongside outside linebacker…Recorded 71 tackles (31 solos) with two sacks for minus 15 yards and five stops for losses of 19 yards…Had six quarterback pressures and a pass deflection…Also caused a fumble.

Arizona State…Got the season off to a fine start, blocking a punt that he recovered to advance the ball 6 yards for a touchdown and made a pair of hits.
Utah State…Made 7 tackles and a pressure.
Penn State and Missouri…Had another pressure and made 5 tackles in each game.
Iowa State…Delivered 6 tackles (4 solos) with a stop behind the line of scrimmage.
McNeese State…Registered a season-high 10 tackles (5 solos) with a 5-yard sack.
Oklahoma State…Was in on 8 tackles and a stop for a 2-yard loss.
Texas A&M…Credited with a 7-tackle performance.
Kansas State…Caused a fumble when he sacked QB Ell Roberson for a 5-yard loss and came up with 7 tackles.
Colorado…Followed with a 6-tackle effort.
Mississippi (Independence Bowl)…Did not play (coach’s decision, after the doctors informed him that Scott was diagnosed the morning of the game with a severe stomach virus. Medication and an IV proved unhelpful and the senior linebacker was forced to watch the game from his hotel room).

2001 SEASON

All-Big Twelve Conference honorable mention by the Associated Press and the league’s coaches…Played in every game, starting nine contests at strongside outside linebacker… Recorded 56 tackles (26 solos) with three sacks for minus 25 yards and eight stops for losses of 36 yards…Recovered a fumble and deflected eight passes.

Texas Christian…Had 6 tackles with a stop for a 4-yard loss and a fumble recovery.
Notre Dame…Added a 4-yard sack, a pass break-up and 6 hits.
Missouri…Despite playing with a left thumb sprain and laceration, he was credited with a season-high 8 tackles (5 solos), 4 pass break-ups and a stop for a 2-yard loss.
Baylor…Followed with an assisted sack and 3 hits.
Kansas…Totaled 7 tackles with a 14-yard sack and 2 stops for minus 18 yards.
Colorado…Deflected a pass and made 6 tackles.
Miami (Rose Bowl)…Made 4 tackles with a pressure and a forced fumble, but allowed tight end Jeremy Shockey to grab 5 passes for 85 yards and a 21-yard touchdown.

2000 SEASON

Played in every game, starting nine contests…Registered 55 tackles (309 solos) with a 4-yard sack, four stops for losses of 7 yards and four quarterback pressures…Caused a fumble and deflected two passes…Also had an interception.
Notre Dame…Posted 7 tackles and stopped tailback Julian Jones behind the line of scrimmage.
Iowa…Followed with a 9-tackle performance\, despite playing with a left wrist sprain.
Missouri…Suffered a right shoulder (AC joint) sprain.
Iowa State…Picked off a Sage Rosenfels pass, deflected another and delivered 5 tackles.
Baylor…Had another 5 tackles, including one for a loss.
Kansas State…Recorded a season-high 11 tackles with a stop for a loss and a forced fumble when he tackled tailback David Allen.
Colorado…Added 9 tackles (6 solos), a pressure and a pass deflection.
Northwestern (Alamo Bowl)…Collected 4 assisted tackles.

1999 SEASON

Played in every game as the up-front blocker on the punt return team, making as assisted tackle vs. Iowa State.

1998 SEASON

Redshirted after joining the team as a walk-on.

HIGH SCHOOL

Attended St. Edward (Neb.) High…Key factor in St. Edward's turnaround from a 3-6 season in his freshman year to 10-1, 9-1 and 10-1 seasons his last three years…Feared running back and defensive back, who was named All-State by the Omaha World-Herald and the Lincoln Journal Star…Chosen Player of the Year by Huskerland Prep Report…Also earned multiple letters in track and basketball…Served as a class officer his senior year.
